Pianist Esther Park

Korean Concert Society is pleased to announce that pianist Esther Park, a graduate of the Juilliard School and a current doctoral candidate at the Yale School of Music, was chosen for the 2012 Kennedy Center debut recital. Irene Kim, a doctoral candidate at the Peabody Conservatory, was named the alternate. Unfortunately, due to a conflict, Esther Park cannot perform, and alternate Irene Kim will perform on September 8, 2012 at the Kennedy Center.

Born in Pusan, Korea in 1984, Esther Park began to play in public soon after her first piano lessons at the age of four. Ms. Park moved to the United States in 1995, after being accepted to the Juilliard School’s Pre-College division, where she also earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.  She has won numerous competitions, including the the 2009 “Prix Amadeo” and the 2009 Chopin Gesellschaft Klavierwettbewerb, and she has performed as a soloist with many orchestras such as Houston Symphony, Corpus Christi Symphony, Filharmonia Pomorska, Poland, Orchestra Filarmonica, Romania, Shanghai Philharmonic, China, the American Academy of Conducting Orchestra at Aspen, Shreveport Symphony, the Juilliard Symphony, and the New Jersey Symphony.
